A challenging mental exercise: Reading your piece with the original verbiage intact, and trying to understand how your argumentation, which clearly asserts the OPPOSITE, somehow supports censorship.
That was a very unfortunate mistake. I think it is because the word "censorship" is used so much more often than free speech that it was in my head as I wrote. I was mortified when the mistake was pointed out. Trust me please - I am (what Amy Harelib calls) a free speech absolutist. I believe that all speech must be free. That allows opposition or variances to be aired as well. The idea that any speech is prohibited is utterly ridiculous and very dangerous. I don't know why we need to argue about this still. It is something as fundamentally imperative as body autonomy.. I agree with you that it is humans who have seemed to have lost our way, while ants know exactly what they're doing. But poor humans are nowhere near their capacity and I think the main thing that will lead us there is to uphold free speech and condemn censorship with all our might.

I am not at all into writing exercises like people often do together online, although I did once conduct tutoring sessions and teach classes and always did the exercises alongside the tutees/students.
This exercise might be an interesting one: Write something, but then negate the entirety of it in one sentence.
It's actually challenging! It teaches not a few good-to-know things writers would benefit knowing.

No please I'm glad you said what you did because it gave us both to talk about free speech (there you go - I said it right that time!) I think anything can be said and if it is rude or untoward then something can be said to that. We shouldn't feel restrained in our discussion. We live in a too-suspicious world. There are many reasons for that because we live in a predatory world, but it is through free speech that we can change all that. I'd love to see censorship be as unsocial as someone picking their nose in public. And when someone does it they feel like shriveling up. If a mistake is made, one always has the chance to rectify it. We are not perfect. Patience is what I define love to be. And everyone spouts love but they don't really know what it is. I actually misspeak quite often, saying the wrong word when there's a pair of opposites. I quickly correct myself, but it happens. A lot. I laugh at myself, or I get frustrated. I am dyslexic and this is, in fact, related to processing differences.
So when I see a politician (on either "side") garbling words and everyone pointing an accusing finger chiding ageist complaints, I feel like that's not fair to assess someone based on a few misspoken words.

I actually misspeak quite often, saying the wrong word when there's a pair of opposites. I quickly correct myself, but it happens. A lot. I laugh at myself, or I get frustrated. I am dyslexic and this is, in fact, related to processing differences.
So when I see a politician (on either "side") garbling words and everyone pointing an accusing finger chiding ageist complaints, I feel like that's not fair to assess someone based on a few misspoken words.
